Two first half goals by Utah downed the Mustangs

Two first half goals by Utah downed the Mustangs 2-0 as Utes outshot the Mustangs 21-5 and dropped the Mustangs to 0-2 for the season while Utah improved to 4-0.Utah got on the board in the 25th minute of play as Jen Christoffers collected a failed clearance attempt at the top of the penalty box by the Mustang defense and dribbled in, untouched, past the keeper from just a few yards out giving Utah a 1-0 lead.Just over five minutes later, sophomore forward Erin Dalley gave the Utes a 2-0 lead as she scored her first goal of the season. The Cal Poly goalkeeper, Brooke Gauvin, cleared the ball, but it fell right to a wide open Dalley about 25 yards out. She settled the ball, took a touch and drilled a shot into the upper right corner. No Mustang had more then one shot with only three shots on goal. Utah fired off 21 shots, nine on goal with Gauvin recording seven saves. Cal Poly was outshot 13-2 in the first period and 8-3 in the final half. Cal Poly returns to action on Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 pm when the team hosts Seattle at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

Subject: Madrid Premier Soccer Club College Night - August 13th, 2009 in Pismo Beach

Hey,

First let me apologize if you receive this more than once, my gmail account is duplicating.

Second, the purpose of this email is to invite you to come to a very special and FREE informational meeting that all parents of athletes who desire to play a competitive sport in college should want to attend.

On the Academic side of things:

Did you know that the math taken in 7th and 8th grade can have an effect on an athlete's academic eligibility in college? Do you know what classes to take freshman year in High School to ensure eligibility? When should you sign your athlete up for the NCAA Clearinghouse? How and when can a college coach legally initiate contact with your athlete? How many unofficial visits can an athlete make to a campus during their High School years?

On the athletic side of things:

What is going to increase your athlete's chance of being identified and possible recruited? What should an athlete do to possibly get the edge? Is what you are doing now enough? What schools can and cannot offer athletic scholarships? Even if your athlete is the best, how realistic is a "full ride" scholarship?

On Thursday, August 13th, Madrid Premier will sponsor an Athletic College Night at New Life Church in Pismo Beach to help answer these questions and more. We have several college coaches who serve as our panel and speak about their programs and give information regarding specific academic and athletic requirements and expectations for entrance not only into college, but specifics on the different divisions within the NCAA.

While soccer is our main focus, this evening will be open to parents of any athlete, regardless of the sport, who wants information on playing college sports. This meeting is also open to parents of any soccer athlete, boys and girls, that plays for Madrid Premier or not. We feel that this information is too important not to pass it on to anyone who is interested in finding out more.

We really look forward to seeing you there and feel free to pass on this information on to anyone you think may be interested.

Seating is limited so please RSVP as soon as possible!

Thanks so much!

AYSO Launches New Web SIte

On July 1, 2009 at 1 a.m. the new national web site for AYSO went live. It is www.AYSO.org.

This was a “soft launch” without too much fanfare because, as is always the case with a new Web site, they’ll be working out bugs for a few days. They’ve also picked a holiday week because it tends to be a low traffic period for all AYSO Web sites. They expect to do an official announcement the week of July 13.

Any links to soccer.org on Region, Area or Section Web sites will be automatically redirected to the new AYSO.org homepage. Deep links to the old site may need to be updated. Use the Search function on the new site to find the page or document.

This new Web site is specifically designed for parents and volunteers.

Gabe Rojas got the match winner in the final. All-Tournament and Most Outstanding Player Honors went to Orion J Schwellenbach. Congratulations lads!

The boys U17 FIRE Black had a fantastic tournament run, surging to the championship match with a thrilling 1-0 win vs Arsenal and then losing to eventual champ Oxnard Wave 1-0 as the Wave (U18 Coast Premier) converted a free kick in the last five minutes of regulation. According to Head Coach Bobby Galarneau, "the boys played some fantastic futbol, with great shape and intensity!"

On the girls side, the U13 STORM Black were finalists in the Silver Division, going 2-0-1 en-route to the championship game, where they were bested by the Red Rockets SC. Helmed from the outset by head coach Dan Bryden and assistant Craig Winninghoff, the girls laced 13 tallies into the old onion sack!
